So what’s this all about?
Our aim is to give you the tools & techniques that will enable you to work your way around the river as efficient as possible and with style. We will use the ICU level 3 skills syllabus as a core but will also introduce some additional strokes & concepts that will help open up the next level of paddling to you.
Is this course for me?
This course is aimed at all kayakers who want to learn & build upon the skills set out in the ICU L3 syllabus. It is open to kayakers who have experience on class two water and wants to focus on their core skills to help them step up to the next level.
This course is set up as a two day intensive skills workshop so a willingness to get stuck in is required to get the best possible outcome for yourself.
So what’s included?
You are going to get two full days intensive coaching by qualified and experienced kayak coaches. As already said we use the Irish Canoe Union Level 3 skills requirements as our core but we aim to include the following skills and concepts.
“Active blade pressure” it is one of the buzz words in kayaking in recent times but how does this affect you and how can you use it to your advantage in a white water environment?
“Throw bags & defensive swimming” We believe it’s all well and good knowing the theory but during the course we will have a workshop to see how these things work in real life.
We’ll look at different paddling styles in different places as part of a flexible approach to the river.
We will give you a full & compressive debrief so when you leave use you will give an action plan for the future.
We operate with a low student: coach ratio to advance & enrich your learning experience.
We run a selection calendar dates for individuals to attend but also book days for private groups & clubs.
