As this is Ireland and you have to take the water when you can get it the following days work was shortened and plans were made. On the Thursday evening a few of us joined up in Laragh and there wasn’t as much water as we had hoped but the old reliables were working & we jumped on a rising river Avonmore. This is far from the most challenging river but I have to say it was one of the most fun / chilled out sessions I can remember. Everyone was in cracking form and there were big flares / boofs and rock spins and cheesy grins all round.

The night finished up with some of us grabbing some food in Lynhams followed by John Nally breaking out the guitar, thankfully after John’s version of “Wild-thing” Jenny K took over and did a mini impromptu concert for all the Laragh local. Cheesy as it sounds its times like that you got to love boating and all that goes with it.

I have to say thanks to Keoghser for the couch that night & to Brittney the dog for waking me up next morning.

The following few days was a testimonial to the phrase ” Make hay when the sun shines”, with it being a long weekend and the sun shining and rivers running I tried to fit in as many runs as I could in.

One of those trips I was lucky enough to lend a hand to the guys form Lacken Kayak Club who are based just outside of Blessington Co. Wicklow. Brian Keogh aka Keoghser was running the show on the day, down to the work of Brian amongst others that these youngsters are the shining light of the future of Irish Whitewater.
